Real Wedding: Shereen & Patrick // 09.08.2018

I remember when I was a young girl, and for a week during the summer, I would escape to Girl Scout Camp. Camp Woodhaven in Eastern Pennsylvania. I would look forward to that week for months. The sing-alongs, the excursions through the woods, the stories, the outdoor activities, the sweet smell of the woods and the crackling fire all all things I will never forget; those weeks at camp were magic to me.

Now, think about going away to camp as an ADULT. All your best friends, all of the fun outdoor activities, campfires, sing-alongs, cabins & bunks, and of course, beers! Haha! My clients, Shereen & Patrick totally did it right. When they told me about their wedding, and how they were hosting it at a sleep-away camp for the weekend, I instantly wanted another wedding and do exactly that.

So, when we came up with the aesthetic and look and feel of their wedding invitations, we knew we had to tie in that woodsy campy feeling. Shereen & Patrick wanted their guests to feel transported to camp upon opening their invitation suite.

I wanted to bring a woodsy, natural feeling to the invitation suite. So, I started by painting some custom watercolor trees and experimented with different ways to use them. I kept the invitation itself pretty simple and kept the trees along the bottom. But, then, I used the trees as a texture on the back of the invitation and for the belly band to keep all of the pieces together. I paired some modern, yet campy looking typefaces to round out the design.

Shereen & Patrick had so many activities planned for their guests and wanted to highlight all of the fun things they could do while at camp. So, I painted a camp map complete with illustrations of the different landmarks so campers could find their way. Then, on the opposite side of the card was a list of all of the things they could enjoy while attending the wedding weekend.

Working on this suite was so much fun; I love the natural, woodsy, aesthetic. I was so excited for Shereen & Patrick to enjoy such an awesome idea for a wedding weekend. And then, when I saw the images come back from Jessica Feiden, I was floored with the simplicity and beauty of their day. You can just see & feel the love from underneath those pines exuding out from the photos.

I thank Shereen & Patrick so much for the opportunity to work on their wedding stationery. It was so wonderful to work with them and I wish them a lifetime of love and happiness. Cheers to that!
